Homemade bread

Bread 1

Made a loaf of bread successfully today.  My first loaf was a disaster, because I added 1tbspn of salt instead of 1tspn! So it was a flat but salty bread. 😦

The loaf I made today is so much better. So pleased with it. πŸ™‚ I tried a slice and it was good. πŸ™‚ So happy that I have to blog about it. Hehe.

The recipe is wholesale taken from Blessedhomemaker. Thanks Reena!

Ingredients

1 cup cold water
3 cups bread flour (you can vary the ratio 1 cup plain: 2 cups bread flour if you wish)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt (salt and sugar at opposite sides of the pan)
2 tbsp olive oil
1.5 tsp yeast (make a hole in the centre & put in the middle of the flour)

Method
Place wet ingredients followed by flour, seasoning and then yeast in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Basic Bread cycle; medium. Press Start.

Slicing the bread requires some skill. I “sawed” the bread and are quite uneven. Well practice makes perfect. πŸ™‚

  3. Woah looks good and Yummy…

I always wanted a bread machine but my kitchen is really too small for one. Sigh..

I love warm fresh bread with lotsa butter..

    • You have an oven, right? So you can bake your own bread. I bought it coz I have not enough counter space and I prefer that if I can store it away easily. πŸ™‚

  4. Do not mix yeast and salt together as the salt will “kill” the yeast. Try adding your seasonings (ie salt and sugar) with the wet ingredients, followed by flour and lastly yeast on top. HTHs.

    • hey reena, waddaya know? that’s how i did for my last loaf and found it worked better for me! now i added 1 1/2 tspn of yeast and the bread is fluffier.
